Water going to waste in Greenhills since 2018?

Some of the water leaks have been reported regularly since July 2018, yet nothing has been done to fix them, councillor reveals.

Ellik de Lange, a councillor in the Greenhills area has raised concerns because nothing is being done about water leaks in the area.

De Lange said some of these issues were reported back in 2018 already, and that thousands of litres of water have since been wasted.

“No one has intervened to fix them; even after I reported the matter to the Rand West City Local Municipality, they did not try to resolve it. There has been neither service nor response.”

He added, “These volumes of water are affecting the infrastructure; the roads are disintegrating.

“Some of these issue were reported on in the Herald in 2018 – this is almost two years later. Water is such a valuable and scarce resource that goes to waste just like that. Imagine the number of litres that have been lost in the past year,” De Lange said.
