On Tuesday, 4 February, another substation in Homelake was targeted and stripped of its components.
According to DA Ward councillor Ellik de Lange, the substation located on 12th Street was found with fuses and earth wires missing.

This follows after numerous other substation and electricity boxes in Randfontein have recently been vandalised and had cables stolen from them.
According to the municipality, this is one of the factors that has contributed to the extended hours of blackouts experienced in Randfontein last week.
