Balaclava-clad thugs continue terror: Two shot in robbery

Police again warn that residents are being terrorised by balaclava-clad and armed suspects who usually strike at night or early mornings.

Two men aged 25 and 34 respectively were wounded during a robbery in Simunye on Monday, 2 December.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkerdal Police spokesperson, two armed men wearing balaclavas targeted their victims on Nkulukeko Street. The thugs demanded money and cellphones but when they could not find any, they shot the victims and fled on foot.

She said the incident was one of many reported in the area as residents were being terrorised by balaclava-clad and armed assailants who usually strike at night or early in the morning.

“We are urging the community to be extra vigilant and avoid walking in the dark as that may put their lives in danger,” Lefakane said.

“The matter was reported to the police and investigations continue. We appeal to the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects. We also advise the community not to try and apprehend the suspects as they are deemed armed and dangerous,” Lefakane said.
