A total of 97 suspects have been arrested during a police operation that was held throughout the West Rand District this past weekend.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the idea was to eradicate crime in the District as police from across the West Rand and other law-enforcement agencies joined forces from Friday, 22 November to Sunday, 24 November.

Suspects were arrested for various crimes, including murder, house robberies, rape, business burglary, malicious damage to property, theft, assault, domestic violence and possession of drugs.
“All those arrested will appear in their respective Magistrates’ Courts today (Monday, 25 November),” Lefakane said.
