The public should communicate better with the police as well as the CPF, and be extra alert as to what is happening in their communities as we approach the festive season.
This was the message at a meeting between the CPF, police and the public at Clan Doyle on Thursday, 21 November.
According to Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander, it is very painful to see how innocent people are left at the mercy of heartless criminals.
He said vehicle theft, housebreakings and stock theft are currently the most concerning crimes.
“A community can do a lot to help both the police and CPF to drastically reduce crime. Innocent victims can no longer live like this. We cannot have people feeling like prisoners because they are afraid to go outside,” Manamela said.
Zaheer Gangat, Randfontein CPF executive committee chairperson added, “We need to have a culture of security in our minds and be security conscious. Be conscious of what is happening at all times.
We will will intensify our patrol operations in areas that we have active patrollers, but we need the community to always be vigilant whenever they go in and of their properties.
“We also would like to advise farmers to mark their live stock at all times and make sure that those they have employed to take care of their live stock are documented.”
