Karate club excels once again

Local Karate school performs well during the West Rand Karate championships.

The Finsbury Sato Kai-Ryu Karate Club proved its mettle at the West Rand Karate Championships held on Saturday, 2 November.

According to Sensei Dany Mitshane, the Ninth West Rand Karate Federation Development and Elite Championships, as well as the 2020 team trials, took place on the same day.

“We managed to attain representation and secure placing at the RegionaI Championships, garnering a total of nine medals, and qualifying our athletes for the provincial championships to be held in November and December,” said Sensei Dany.

Sensei Dany also said, given the appalling frequency of women, girls and child abuse, school bullying and so on, he feels that it’s relevant to encourage more to people to join karate clubs for self-defence and its many health benefits, including emotional disorders, improved concentration, and more.

Sensei Dany wants to thank the Kocksoord SPAR for sponsoring the sparring gloves used on the day.

“It couldn’t have been better timed for the weekend’s qualifier,” said Dany.

Sensei Dany will be moving his dojo from Finsbury Sports Complex soon, and will be calling the Avante Primary School Hall the dojo’s new home.
