Book based on femicide coming to R’fontein today!

A conference themed ‘Fight Against Women and Child Abuse and Femicide’ will be held at the Emmanuel New Life Centre in Toekomsrus today (Saturday, 5 October).

Oscar Oliphant, organiser of the event, said the proceedings will start at 3pm.

According to the World Health Organization, femicide is generally understood to involve intentional murder of women because they are women, but broader definitions include any killing of women or girls.

Various organisations such as churches, soccer teams, burial clubs, women’s groups and associations, schools, businesses, taxi associations and CPFs will be represented.

Speakers at the conference will be Nodean Hammond (Toekomsrus Men’s Forum), Bertram Moses (Rooskrans Family representative), Grant Fritz (Fritz Family representative), Mandla Hamnca (Proud Fathers Mohlakeng), Ms Angie Makwetla (author of Femicide and Human Rights Commissioner) and Enrique Bhana (WAWA).
