Municipal Strike: No service at licensing department – for now

Authorities are warning people not to use the Randfontein Licensing Department amidst the labour unrest.

The Rand West City (RWC) Traffic Department has advised the public to consider visiting neighbouring licensing departments – Mogale City or Merafong – amidst the ongoing labour unrest at the RWC Local Municipality.

Kenny Mampondo, RWC Traffic Chief said, “The disruptions have affected the normal day to day activities of the licensing department.

We understand that people are frustrated by this because they come in the morning and go back home without having received any service.”

He added that the gates had to be locked for safety reasons as workers who reported for duty were being intimidated.

“We would like to apologise to our clients for the inconvenience caused by this impasse, which is beyond our control, but we are hoping things will get back to normal very soon.”
