Police have identified four men wanted in connection with the liquor store robbery on Edward Avenue, Westonaria on Tuesday night, 27 August.

W’aria liqour store targeted – three people shot

As reported last week, a group of men entered the store at about 7.30pm. They were armed with pistols and demanded cash, liquor and cigarettes. On their way out, they fired shots at the store security guard and a security guard from a private company.

A passer-by was also wounded in the crossfire. ER24 confirmed that two men and a woman were wounded and left critically injured. They were airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

The robbers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash as well as property. One of the getaway vehicles was said to be a Nissan NP300 bakkie. The suspects are heavily armed and dangerous.

Sergeant Audrey Sefara, Westonaria Police spokesperson confirmed on Thursday, 5 September, that a manhunt has been launched for the men in the pictures.

“The police are appealing to the community to assist in identifying the suspects and to forward any information anonymously to detective Sergeant Tshongoyi on 0769123313, or alternatively contact crime stop on 08600 10111.

“The station commander has warned the community to be vigilant and notify the station of any suspicious persons or vehicles. He also condemned this barbaric act, and any other serious and violent crimes committed in his area. The incident is a high-priority crime and therefore police officers are working around the clock to trace and apprehend the suspects,” Sefara said.
