Westonaria crash leaves two critical

Two men, one of them middle-aged and the other elderly, sustained critical injuries during weekend vehicle/ SUV crash.

Two men, one of them elderly, sustained critical injuries when a light motor vehicle and SUV collided duringthe weekend in Westonaria.

Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson, said the accident took place on the N12 near the Glenharvie turn-off during the afternoon of Saturday, 17 August.

He said ER24 paramedics arrived just after 5pm to find that bystanders had extracted two men from the light motor vehicle.

A 67-year-old man was found to have suffered multiple injuries and was in a critical condition. He was treated with Advanced Life Support interventions before being airlifted by the ER24 One Plan Helicopter to a private hospital for further care.

“The driver, a man in his late 40s, had suffered serious injuries and was treated and transported to Sterkfontein Hospital by another service.”

Police were on the scene for further investigations.
