Sbudilicious has big dreams

If there is one thing Patrick Sibusiso Molubi, aka Sbudilicious, lives for, it’s to revive the entertainment industry within the Rand West, more especially among the youth, whom he believes will help keep it alive.

Sbudilicious, 30, who grew up in an orphanage in Pretoria, said that part of his life was somewhat of a blessing in disguise, because it gave him an opportunity to discover many of his talents such as acting, dancing, film-making and even singing.

Explaining his background, Sbudilicious said that while he was in the orphanage, he was taught many artistic activities at the Jabulani State Theatre.

“Every Friday and Saturday, they would take us to the theatre and teach us about acting, dancing, and singing. Many of us could explore as much as we wanted to,” Sbudilicious said.

Today, his projects include a studio in which he assists local artists to record their music. “These are mostly upcoming artists between the ages of 15 and 35. I also shoot films and music videos,” Sbudilicious added.

What is more important to him, however, is to help those who have these talents, so that the entertainment stays alive and is recognised.

“Unfortunately, I feel that lately people do not appreciate entertainment, and they do not take artists seriously. This is why you find most of them giving up, due to lack of support.”

He added that with his organisation, named Generation To Generation (GTG), he wants to ensure that all the values and lessons he teaches to today’s youngsters will remain with them long after he is gone.

Every now and then, Sbudilicious holds special events for the parents of the children he trains, so that they are encouraged to nurture the talents of their children.

“I would also like to be supported so that we can help those with dreams in entertainment to live them out.”

Sbudilicious said the entertainment industry could be used to express many things people are experiencing. “Perhaps we can achieve this big dream by getting our youngsters involved,” Sbudilicious added.
