New stop signs to bring an end to accidents?

Four stop signs have been installed at the intersection of Lazaar and Botha Avenues after concerned residents signed a petition.

Four stop signs have finally been installed at the intersection of Lazaar and Botha Avenues.

This follows months of complaints by concerned residents in the area.

Sina Erasmus, ward councillor of the area, who headed the process said the intersection was a major cause for concern as there have been several accidents over a period of time.

“Many residents who were concerned about this area signed a petition. A week after submitting it to the Rand West Traffic Department the stop signs were installed.

“We hope that this effort will reduce the number of accidents. We are also planning on putting down speed bumps in the near future, so that pedestrians are safer when they walk in this area,” Erasmus said.

“We would like to thank everyone who has been actively involved in making sure that the intersection is safer,” Erasmus added.
