#WisdomWednesday: Fuel price decrease and what the town had to say …

VIDEO: The Herald spoke to Randfonteiners at local fuel stations to find out how they felt about paying less for fuel than last month.

While South Africa is in the cold claws of winter, the good news is a fuel price decrease that surely warmed us all up with excitement.

At midnight on 2 July, the price of 95 octane petrol decreased by 95 cents, and 93 octane decreased by 96 cents. The price of diesel with 0,05 per cent sulfur decreased by 74,78 cents and diesel with 0,005 per cent sulfur costs 75,78 cents less.

Paraffin also decreased by 57 cents per litre and gas costs 133 cents less per kilogram.

On Wednesday, 3 July, fuel stations were abuzz with people filling up their cars, trucks and bakkies. The Herald spoke to Randfonteiners at local fuel stations to find out how they felt about paying less for fuel than last month.

Robin Nkala said the fuel price decrease is a relief, but that he won’t be happy until petrol costs R12 again.

“I travel a lot, so it is good news; but it is still too high so we can’t celebrate yet. For me, it doesn’t make much of a difference. It is the first time in six months that the price has dropped and it frequently goes up,” he added.

According to Paul Gwenzi, the price of fuel is still a big concern for many South Africans.

“I’m happy that the fuel price decreased, but now I wonder when is it going up again.

“Businesses in the fuel industry, as well as their customers, are struggling. Businesses can’t make a lot of profit and customers can’t afford fuel anymore. We need to look at what can be done to help everyone,” he said
