Earth tremor felt across West Rand and surroundings
Social media is abuzz over an earth tremor that was felt in Randfontein, in other parts of the West Rand and Soweto.
On Wednesday, 3 July, Randfonteiners took to social media to report what felt like an earth tremor the night before.
According to Facebook posts, a tremor was felt at about 10.30pm in most areas of Randfontein all the way to Ruimsig, and even as far as Soweto.

Nico Kahts, manager of Emergency Management Services at the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM), however, could not confirm these reports.
“We are not aware of any earth tremors occurring yesterday and we have not received any reports of damage,” he said.
