Three suspects were arrested for stock theft after the carcasses of numerous cows were found in two vehicles in Finsbury just days ago.
Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, said the arrests took place in Tafelberg Street, Finsbury at about 7.30am on Tuesday, 14 May.

“Members were doing patrols when they noticed a white Toyota Hi-Ace minibus parked on the side of the road without a tyre, and a white Kia Soul parked next to it. The members stopped to investigate and spotted one unknown man running away while the driver of the Kia tried to drive off, but they managed to stop the vehicle,” she said.
Hendricks went on to say that members searched the vehicles and found the carcasses of several cows inside both the vehicles. The driver was interviewed and informed the police that he had only come to assist the other two men to load meat because their vehicle had a problem.
“He provided information of the whereabouts of the other two men, who were subsequently found with their clothes and hands covered in blood. They failed to provide the members with an adequate explanation of where they had found the carcasses. The three suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen stock and will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon,” Hendricks added.
Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein station commander, thanked the members for being vigilant and for the arrest.
“The Randfontein area is facing a problem with stock theft and we are requesting the help of the community, asking them to come forward with any information that could assist in the arrest of the perpetrators,” he said.
