L Mokoele is proud of his achievement.

Lesetja Mokoele, Sadtu’s Randfontein Branch chairperson, said awards were given for outstanding individual performances as well as to the stand-out schools.

“We paid tribute to colleagues who did well against the odds and went that extra mile for the future of our learners. They did a sterling job.”

Dr Manyane Diale, the guest speaker, who is a local businessman and former teacher at Phahama Secondary School, added ,”We celebrated with our teachers on a job well done. Teaching is, however, not for the faint-hearted. It takes a village to raise a child; that village is a school, that village is our teachers”.

He added that parents, teachers and learners all have their challenges, “However, all of us have the power to fix everything. We just have to join hands and support one another. Teaching is a collective effort and I’m positive for the future.”
