Why are Randfontein’s rates and taxes so high?
I once stayed in the Johannesburg CBD, and near Northgate, and the rebates there are better than in Greenhills.
I regret ever moving to Randfontein, as it is just too expensive and unaffordable.
I would also like to know why are we being charged business rates for high consumption for our complex.
We have tried to address this issue without much luck. The municipality charges us as one entity whereas we are 28 houses in our complex. We have even employed a company to take our readings each month but this does not help because the municipality ignores our readings, and takes one transformer meter reading as much as 14 to 16 days after we read our meters.
We have tried to address this issue a couple of times with different people at the municipality, but they always tell us that they are unable to help because our complex was registered as one entity.
This is frustrating, because the cost of living is very high. We want to do the right thing, but we are being sucked dry by an uncaring municipality and government.
