UPDATE: Emergency service sheds light on Homelake murder

Alleged home invasion in Homelake – A security company and family member discovered the body of the deceased.

Two cases of murder are being investigated by the Randfontein Police following two unrelated incidents that took place on the last Friday and Saturday of March respectively.

Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson said, “ER24 paramedics were called to a scene of an alleged home invasion just after 10am on Saturday, 30 March after a security company and a family member had discovered the body of a 48-year-old man.

“The man had suffered a gunshot wound to the pelvis and was declared dead on the scene. The police were on the scene for further investigations,” he added.

Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the murder occurred in Linda Court on Freda Avenue.

”The police investigated a scene where a woman had found the body of her brother with blood all around him. Emergency services were called and the victim was declared dead on the scene. An empty cartridge was found next to him,” she said.

“In an unrelated incident, a body was found in an open field behind the dumping site on 29 March at approximately 11pm,” Hendricks said.
