Suspect stabs victim for not having any money

Man stabbed for being unable to hand over the money a suspect demanded from him in the Bekkersdal area.

A man was stabbed for being unable to hand over the money that a suspect demanded from him during a robbery in the Bekkersdal area recently.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident took place one Sunday night in March in the Spooktown informal settlement.

“The victim alleged that the suspect stopped him and started searching him without saying anything. He told the suspect he did not have any money, and when this proved to be the case, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him in his right hand,” Lefakane said.

She added the 28-year-old suspect has since been arrested and is due to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
