Elderly driver loses control, crashes in Randgate

Crash knocks down traffic light in Randgate – elderly man injured and taken to hospital.

An elderly man had to be transported to hospital after he crashed his vehicle into a traffic light at the corner of Malan Street and Lazar Avenue in Randgate on Tuesday, 5 February.

Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson, said the accident took place shortly before 5pm.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the elderly driver of a vehicle lost control, knocking down a traffic light. The elderly man was injured in the crash. The patient was assessed on the scene and found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated on scene by an Advanced Life Support paramedic and once stabilised was transported to a hospital for further treatment,” Herbst confirmed.
