The Randfontein Police arrested a suspect for being in possession of a stolen vehicle last week.
Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said they received a tip-off to be on the lookout for a stolen VW Caravelle 2.6 kombi. They were doing patrols when they noticed the kombi on the R28 with only one occupant.
“They tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. Police chased the vehicle and managed to stop the driver in Chrysler Street in Aureus.
“The suspect was restrained and the motor vehicle was found to be linked to a case of motor vehicle theft in Honeydew. Members arrested the suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and detained him at the Randfontein Police cells,” Hendricks said.
She said the motor vehicle was taken to the Vehicle Identification and Safeguarding (VIS) Unit.
“The suspect will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon. No one sustained injuries during the arrest,” Hendricks added.
Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander expressed his gratitude towards the members making the arrest and for being vigilant.
“If we work together we can conquer anything,” Manamela added.
