Children among one dead and six injured in horror Christmas Eve crash.

A girl, believed to be 3-years-old, was killed and six others injured when a vehicle rolled off Klerkskraal Road in Carletonville on Christmas Eve.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene shortly before 8am on Monday, 24 December to find a wrecked light motor vehicle on the side of the road.

He added the occupants had been ejected and were lying around the scene.

“On closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a girl, believed to be 3-years-old.

Unfortunately, the girl had already succumbed to her numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead.

“Six other patients were assessed, including two other children. Paramedics found that a 7-year-old girl was in a critical condition while a 3-year-old boy had sustained only minor injuries. Four other adults sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured child with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the critically injured child was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Sunshine Hospital while the remaining patients were transported to Carletonville Provincial Hospital.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
