Taylor a ‘Swimmer of the Year’

Although Taylor Da Costa goes to Laerskool Bekker Primary, she is a community member R'fontein can be very proud of. She's also a 'Swimmer of the Year'.

At only 12 years old, Greenhills resident Taylor Da Costa is doing a great job of representing Randfontein at Laerskool Bekker Primary School.

“She has been in Laerskool Bekker Primary since we moved to Randfontein two years ago. She takes part in every sport the school has to offer and she studies very hard,” her mother, Anthea said.

Taylor was awarded the ‘Swimmer of the Year’ title but also participated in various other sports.

While Taylor spent most of her time participating in many different sports and also excelled academically this year, she also managed to show good leadership skills. She was chosen to be the head girl of Laerskool Bekker Primary School for 2019. She is involved with various charities and orphanages in Randfontein.

“We are very proud of her and all of her achievements and hard work. I think that she’s a community member R’fontein can be very proud of,” her mother said

Taylor is very excited about going to Grade 7 because it’s one year closer to high school. “I ride on the Hoërskool Bekker bus every day so I have a lot of friends in high school,” she said.

Another R’fonteiner, Mvamo Maphumulo, was also chosen to be a prefect at Laerskool Bekker Primary School for 2019.
