Crimes against women, children still a concern

A 16 Days of Activism and Crime Awareness campaign was launched in Mohlakeng recently with crimes against women children still a big concern.

Crimes against women and children in Randfontein remain a big concern as our Police and other stakeholders launched a 16 Days of Activism and Crime Awareness campaign at the Recreation Centre in Mohlakeng recently.

According to Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the programme addressed women and children abuse (a main concern in Randfontein), gender-based violence, drug and substance abuse, human trafficking and crime in general.

16 Days of Activism Campaign launched in Mohlakeng.

She added that more than 300 people were reached and 1 000 pamphlets containing safety tips and information were distributed.

Partnering with local police were members of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, the Social Crime Prevention Unit, Community Police Forum (CPF), Rand West City Department of Public Safety, the Department of Health, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Community Work Programme (CWP), the Department of Sports, Arts and Recreation, Pillar of Strength and ward councillors.
