Teine players honoured for 2018 season

The Randfontein Rugby Club recently held an award ceremony during which various club members were rewarded for their blood, sweat and tears during the 2018 season.

The night saw many sportspeople, fans, friends, families and rugby fanatics come together for the love of the game. They celebrated with those who were recognised by being awarded hard-earned titles.

“The main focus of the event was to present the vision Randfontein Rugby Club has for next year,” said club chairperson Johan Cronje.

The following teams and individuals received awards:

• Best performing team – U/19s

• Best spirited junior player of the year – Walmar Botha

• Best spirited senior player of the year – Manny Rodriques

• Most deserving member – Johan Cronje

• Person with most initiative – Corne Hulme

• Best First Team players – Eben Vorster, Lesly Koekemoer

• Best Second Team players – Tarquin Muller and Matt van Zyl

• Best Third Team players – Stef Korp and Danie Janse van Vuuren

• Best U/19 players – Christoff Kleyn and Brandon Viviers

• Best U/21 players – Johan Botha and Jacqus van Loggerenberg

• Most improved junior player – Mvelo Tshabalala

• Most improved senior player – Quinton Pretorius

• Junior coaches of the year – Erens Oelsen and Jan Kleyn

• Senior coaches of the year – Dawie Ernst and Frans Vorster

• Special Award – Senior Burger Koos Jooste

• Junior Sportsman of the year – Duandre Joubert

• Senior Sportsman of the year – Herman van Eck

• Most deserving team – U/19

• Best loafers (droogmakers): Francois Grace, Stefan Calitz, Pieter Smit, Manny Rodriques

• Players’ player of the year – Herman van Eck

• Kooz van Zyl for selected to the Golden Lions Rugby Union amateur team

• Best team manager – Jan Klein
