Event to brag about your four-legged friend

Are you up for a challenge? Local business invites public to support/ take part in a Dog Day initiative in aid of the Rand West SPCA.

Rand West Datsun and Nissan has taken the initiative to raise funds for the Rand West SPCA.

According to Gerda Pieterse, Dealer Principal at Rand West Datsun and Nissan, “Community involvement is at the forefront of our agenda and when we became aware of the current needs at the local SPCA, we decided to jump at the opportunity and assist the organisation.”

Hence a Datsun Dog Day is set to take place on Saturday, 24 November at Rand West Datsun and Nissan. This will be a fun day for dogs and owners aimed at raising donations of various kinds in aid of the Rand West SPCA.

“The staff at Randwest Datsun and Nissan are all avid animal lovers and when we heard that they are in need of donations the Datsun Dog Day initiative was born,” Gerda said.

She added it is one event where you are asked to brag about your four-legged friends.

“Dog owners can enter their dogs in one or all of three categories and will be presented with the opportunity to show them off to a panel of judges. The panel will then decide on the day of the event which dog will win the ultimate titles up for grabs.

“Dogs of all breeds and ages are welcome, we make no exception. This is a very informal event and pure fun; we believe all dogs are special in their own way. We wish to provide some bragging rights to owners and a platform for the Rand West SPCA to be helped with the good work they do,” she added.

Datsun Dog titles up for grabs include:

• Most Handsome Datsun Dog

• “Waggiest” tail Datsun Dog

• Most spoiled Datsun Dog

A donation of pet food or anything on the Rand West SPCA’s list of needs will be considered your entry fee.

Lorika Boshoff, Rand West SPCA chairperson provided the following list of needs:

• Stainless steel feeding bowls

• Toys

• Blankets

• Building material/ Paint for kennel upgrades

“We are very grateful to have a local business like Rand West Datsun and Nissan come on board to help with the work we do. We want to encourage dog owners from across the West Rand to come and enjoy the day with us and help our animals in this fun way,” Lorika said.

But that’s not all. Are you up for a challenge?

Rand West Nissan will fill the 256l boot-space of a Datsun Go with pet food for the Rand West SPCA and challenges the community to fill more vehicles together.
