Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who shot and killed a man and wounded another during the early hours of Saturday morning, 27 October.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident happened at about 3.27am at the Spooktown Informal Settlement in the area.

“It is alleged the victims were walking along the street from a local tavern when they were attacked by an unknown number of men. It is further alleged the suspects fired shots randomly, fatally wounding one of the victims who was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person had to be rushed to hospital.
“The suspects are still at large and the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage. Anyone who might assist the police with information is requested to contact the Bekkersdal Police on on 072 561 8502, 011 755 8017 or the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111.”
