The burnt body of an unidentified person was found behind the offices of Randfontein Home Affairs in Aureus yesterday morning (Tuesday, 23 October).
Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, said a murder investigation is under way.

“The police officer alleged that he received a complaint of murder. On his arrival on the scene he found a member of the community who pointed out a dead body to him that was burned beyond recognition. The community member was collecting cans when he noticed the body in a ditch. The victim’s face was covered up with what seems to be a cloth,” she said.
The victim’s identity is still unknown and the Randfontein detectives are urging the community to come forward with any information that will help them with the investigation. They can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
