Truck found stripped and burning next to shack

Bekkersdal Police need information from the public after a truck was found burning, stripped and dumped next a shack last week.

A Hyundai Hino 700 truck with registration number JMX 512 MP was found stripped, burning and dumped next to the Holomisa informal settlement on Friday, 19 October.

Bekkersdal Police are investigating the case and need information from the public.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, confirmed that they had received a complaint about a truck that was burning next to a shack in the early hours of that morning.

“When we arrived, the truck was still in flames. There was no information about its owner or how the fire started, but the windows, dashboard and the truck battery had been stripped.”

Lefakane added, “This truck might have been stolen or hijacked elsewhere, but further investigation will reveal the exact circumstances. Anyone who might have information on this truck is requested to contact the Bekkersdal Police on 072 561 8502, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111”.
