Get to know a ‘Teiner’ #84 – Simon Zwenyika

The 84th person in the Herald’s Get to know a Randfonteiner project introduces himself.

Meet our ‘Teiner’ of the week, Simon Zwenyika, 40, who is originally from Harare in Zimbabwe, but has been living in Greenhills for eight years.

Simon said even though he still loves his country of birth, Randfontein has become a perfect home for him and his family.

Simon is a street vendor, and proud of what he does. He said that he will forever be grateful for being able to feed his family with what he gets from the streets.

“There is nothing I enjoy more than socialising. People here have shown me nothing but love and I have never felt like I was discriminated against because I am a foreigner,” Simon said.

Simon added that if he is not working in his role of vendor, he likes making friends. He’s not someone who likes living in isolation.

“I love being in the company of people. If I’m not spending time with my family, I would normally be out with my friends to have a drink,” Simon said.

He concluded that he considers himself a people’s person and added he will make sure that he enjoys his life to its fullest, every day.

“I am simple man who loves living,” Simon added.
