Record fuel hike: R’fonteiners at the pumps

The Herald hit the streets to hear what Randfontein motorists had to say.

As of Wednesday, 3 October, South African motorists will be paying more for fuel than ever before and the Herald hit the streets to hear what Randfonteiners had to say.

William Mbiza said, “It is honestly killing us. I only used to fill my my tank with R400 but right now it is really expensive. I do not know how much I am going to need to fill it up.”

William Mbiza.

Muqisid Muhammad said, “The constant fuel hike this year has been shocking. Something has to be done  about this. It is way too expensive and I cannot opt for alternative means of transport.”

Franco Fourie said, “There is nothing I can say that will change this situation. If the government says we need to pay so much for the fuel then we do not have a choice but to oblige. One thing’s for sure, it is really burning a hole in our pockets.”

Franco Fourie.

Poloke Molebaba added, “The only thing I can do is to try not drive a lot. That way, I do not have to spend a lot of money on fuel. It is very expensive and sometimes this is what it takes to avoid the fuel expense.”

Poloke Molebaba.
