Shame on you, litter bugs

Shame on the people who litter and shame on the municipality that does not seem to care about our beloved town!

I live in Greenhills and walk my dog at the Greenhills Stadium most afternoons.

On Friday, 31 August the municipality hosted a health day for its workers and I saw people having fun and playing soccer, netball etc. The fun included drinking a lot of beer and the bottles were strewn all over the grounds, leaving the stadium in a disgusting state.

On Friday, 7 September, when I walked my dog in the afternoon there was another municipal event on the go for the CPW workers and again lots of fun all around, which again included drinking a lot of beer and leaving bottles lying around.

When I walked my dog on Saturday and Sunday at the stadium, I saw many bottles had been broken on the paved area next to the pavilion and again the stadium looked disgusting. Is this indicative of how municipal worker behave?

How long before the municipality cleans up this disgusting mess?

In my experience, it takes a good few days before it happens and then only in certain areas. Yes, the bottles are eventually picked up but the packets and polystyrene containers are left lying all over the fields, even near the Northway Avenue area – for weeks on end.

Shame on whoever is in charge of the stadium!

It seems these days the municipality and many of its workers have absolutely no pride as they do not give a damn about how our town looks, about the rubbish lying around all over the town or about the state of the sewerage system – especially in Greenhills where sewage runs down the roads in several areas and nothing seems to be done about it.

Shame on the people who litter and shame on the municipality that does not seem to care about our beloved town!
