Thanks Fire Department and lady!
The fire brigade was here in minutes and the firefighters were extremely competent in performing their duties.
I would like to thank the personnel of the Randfontein Fire Department and the woman who drove past on 30th July 2018 and told us that the fire had suddenly reached the back of our property.
During the course of the day we had all been monitoring the fire that had already destroyed many hectares of farm land and we were aware that the fire brigade was on site.
By late afternoon the huge ball of smoke in the distance had faded so we commenced with our tasks. However, the wind suddenly changed direction and chased a rogue section of fire onto the field where our horses were grazing. It seemed that within seconds all hell had literally broken loose on our fields.
Fortunately for us the fire brigade was here in minutes and the firefighters were extremely competent in performing their duties, especially the “ladder” chief who, apart from being efficient, was also very amiable. I believe a fire engine had also been dispatched from the Krugersdorp branch to assist.
