Girl, 16, gang raped: Two wanted

Manhunt launched after teen raped by two men in Westonaria.

Two men are wanted for the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in the Bekkersdal area a week ago.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident happened at about 10pm on Friday, 13 July.

“It is alleged the victim was with a friend when they were both accosted by the suspects, who were armed with a firearm. The victim alleges the suspects ordered her male friend to sit on the ground and tied his feet together with a shoelace. They then walked with her to a secluded area and took turns in raping her.

“The suspects later fled the scene, leaving the victim behind. The victim managed to get help and was taken to the Bekkersdal Police Station, where a case of rape was reported.

“The suspects are still at large and an investigation is continuing. We are making an appeal to the community to refrain from walking around during the night, particularly in the informal settlement, as the area is extremely dark.”

Anyone who can assist the police with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects can contact the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 0000/6, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
