RPA continues to give back

The Randfontein Publicity Association recently distributed food parcels and blankets to rubbish recyclers in Greenhills.

The 2018 Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA)’s Winter Charity Drive culminated last week with the distribution of food parcels and blankets to a number of rubbish recyclers in Greenhills.

“Over the past two weeks we have distributed 115 blankets, 50 food parcels and bulk food items to various individuals and organisations,” said Joy Hamann, RPA Publicity Officer.

She added, “We believe in giving back to the community we serve and every year we buy blankets and food to donate to the less fortunate. It’s at times like this that one becomes aware of how many people of all races live in dire poverty and we are grateful to be able to make a difference for some of them. We would like to thank those RPA members who also made a contribution to the Charity Drive this year.”

Each year the RPA donates to different NGOs, feeding schemes and individual families. In the past five years, 22 NGOs and numerous families have benefited from the RPA Winter Charity Drive.

Beneficiaries for 2018:

• Siqobile Community Based Care – Thusanang, Westonaria: Blankets and food parcels for the elderly.

• Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) — Toekomsrus and Mohlakeng: Blankets and bulk food for the shelter and food parcels for individual families.

• Omgee vir Randfontein (a feeding scheme in Randgate that serves food to 350 people every Sunday): Bulk food

• Friendship Haven: Blankets to SASSA pensioners

• Numerous unemployed, homeless and needy individuals and families: Blankets and food parcels.
