The reason for a business in the Randfontein CBD coming under attack by arsonists is not clear yet.
The incident happened at about 3.10am on Wednesday, 30 May.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the 39-year-old owner of a shop on Seventh Street said that he received a call from a local security company regarding an incident at his shop.
“The allegation is that a window was broken and a burning cloth and plastic was thrown into the shop. The security officers who attended to the complaint were able to extinguish the fire.
“A case of malicious damage to property was reported since some of the clothes in the shop were either destroyed or damaged by the fire. The structure of the building was not damaged.”
