Man critical after factory accident

Man airlifted to hospital in critical condition after injuring arm in factory accident in the Randfontein CBD.

A man is in a critical condition following an industrial accident at a factory in the Randfontein CBD on Thursday, 19 April.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying next to a large machine.

“A number of colleagues had gathered around the man and had begun to render basic first aid. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a serious injury to his arm, leaving him in a critical condition.

“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Mediclinic Midstream for urgent treatment.”

The cause of the incident is not yet known but an investigation will be launched into the matter.
