#HelpFindLee: Update: Appeal to community to join search

One last intensive search for missing three-year-old Lee

It has been a month since three-year-old Liyaqat ‘Lee’ Mentoor went missing, and, in an effort to find answers, the police are arranging an intensive search for 21 April.

Various security companies, neighbourhood block watches, Community Policing Forums (CPFs) as well as other role-players will also be participating.

Captain Sonja Prinsloo, spokesperson for the Roodepoort Police, said, “We are appealing to community members to join us on Saturday morning, so we can join hands and work together to try and find answers for this little boy’s family.

We will meet on Ridgevale Primary’s soccer field at 6.30am and the search will commence at 7am.”

She added that the area that will be searched, includes Roodekrans as well as Krugersdorp. “Those who would like to assist should be aware that the terrain is difficult and that a certain level of fitness is required. Everyone should dress appropriately and wear solid footwear. Also, as per a request from the family, everyone who will be joining in the search should please wear something yellow, in order for us to know they are part of the search party,” Prinsloo said.

Estelle Delport, the family’s representative, said that the family cannot take the strain any longer. “We are devastated, and Kaylah cries for her son constantly. We are getting weaker, we only want our baby back. I want you to understand that, should you have Lee, or know anything that could bring us closer to finding out where he is, it is important that you tell us. Bring him back, please, please!” she pleaded.

Those who are interested in joining the search party on Saturday should visit the Help Find Lee webpage at https://www.helpfindlee.co.za and register.
