A 28-year-old woman has been arrested after she was seen struggling to start a vehicle that turned out to be stolen.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident happened at about 2pm on Sunday, 31 March.

She said the vehicle was spotted near a church in Zuurbekom and that police officers Sergeant Clara Matshediso and Constable Albert Phalafala were conducting their routine patrol duties when they received a complaint about the suspicious-looking vehicle at the church.
“They proceeded there and found a woman struggling to start the vehicle. They then introduced themselves and a preliminary investigation was conducted. This revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen.”
The woman was arrested and charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
She made a brief appearance in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 April.
