Get to know a ‘Teiner #56 – Leonard Mckay
The 56th person in the Herald’s popular ‘#Get to know a ‘Teiner’ series introduces himself.
For 30 years, Leonard Mckay has dedicated his life to serving and nurturing the children of the Haartzstraat Primary School by answering the call to become a dedicated teacher.
The 54-year-old Mckay, a resident of Toekomsrus, said he is a person who takes discipline to heart and believes that once discipline is instilled in every child, society will have better adults.

Mckay, who is also a former principal, said he is a family man who loves getting involved in community upliftment activities.
His other interests are soccer, reading and researching ways of enhancing his skills and becoming a better teacher.
“I do everything to ensure that education is enhanced. I am involved in the School Governing Body (SGB) of the school to make sure that everything runs properly,” he said.
