Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said their paramedics, along with other services, found the two vehicles on the side of the road.

“A woman was lying trapped inside one of the vehicles. She was in a serious condition. Two other victims were found walking around on the scene,” he said.

Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics provided advanced life support interventions to the seriously injured woman. They also attended to the other victims’ injuries and transported all of them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
