Suspects flee, leaving their vehicle behind

Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane, spokesperson for the Westonaria Police, said the suspects tied the victim's hands and feet.

On Thursday,8 February, at approximately 2.30pm, a house robbery occurred on Harlem Street, where a 39-year-old man resides.

It is alleged that the complainant came home from town and found an unoccupied grey vehicle idling in his yard. He blocked the gate with his vehicle, but was suddenly approached by two unknown men, one carrying a firearm. The suspects forced him into the house.

The police were summoned, and Sergeant Audrey Sefara, and Constables Mkateko Mathe, Hector Makondo and Caleb Rakuba responded, along with security officers from Mapogo a Mathamaga.

“They chased the suspects until they were able to arrest one of them on Jupiter Street. One firearm, the serial number of which had been tampered with, as well as fifteen rounds of ammunition, one magazine and a television were recovered,” added Warrant Officer Sebonyane.

The suspect was detained at the Westonaria police cells, and is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.

The acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hazel Makhafola, applauded the members and the security company for working together in the fight against crime.
