Manhunt launched for car thieves

Bekkersdal Police station commander urges the community to ensure their vehicles are properly locked and that the place where they park them is safe and secure, following a vehicle theft.

The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt after a vehicle was stolen from a residence in Zuurbekom.

The incident happened on Sunday, 7 January.

“It is alleged the victim parked his vehicle in an open garage and found the following morning that it was missing. The matter was reported to the police and the suspects are still at large,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Colonel Abraham Nkhwashu, the Bekkersdal Police station commander urges the community to ensure their vehicles are properly locked and that the place where they park them is safe and secure.

“Rather fit vehicles with tracking devices or alarms as it will help with the investigation,” he said.
