Tristan – The challenge is on!

Tristan needs to return to India in February this year for his second treatment. You can help too!

On 23 December Tristan Sellwig, 6, who had a near-drowning experience when he was three, saw his wildest dreams come true when hundreds of bikers from various clubs all over South Africa visited him.

“Tristan has always been fascinated by motorbikes,” said his father, Paul Sellwig. Besides visiting him, they rallied to raise funds for the second stem-cell treatment he so desperately needs.

“There is no doubt that the bikers have the biggest hearts. Words can never express the gratitude this family has for you guys. Thank you for your support, your encouragement and you prayers.

May you be blessed beyond measure in all your endeavours. You rock!” said a grateful Paul and his wife Chantal.

Tristan suffered brain trauma with the near drowning on 9 November 2014. Due to Tristan being so young and receiving the correct rehabilitation and treatment he is on the road to recovery to reach all the milestones of a child his age.

Tristan underwent a stem-cell transplant in Mumbai in India, which was performed by Dr Alok Sharma. Tristan needs to return to India in February for his second treatment.

Paul and Chantal have been sending videos to Dr Sharma, and this is his response, “Thank you for these videos. Every time I see these wonderful improvements in dear Tristan, I close my eyes and thank the Almighty for this miracle. It is also a reinforcement of what we believe in and what we do. We are waiting for him to get a normal life.”

Tristan’s parents launched a ‘150 business challenge’ for donations, to enable Tristan to undergo his treatment.

The target is R150 000, and they appeal to businesses to donate only R1 000 each. The trip is very costly, and Paul and his wife can not let Tristan go to Mumbai alone.
