Eight people were arrested in the Bekkersdal area for being in possession of substances suspected to be drugs.
One of them is a woman who was arrested for cultivating dagga at her place.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said, “The suspects, aged between 20 and 39, were arrested by the Bekkersdal Police Intervention team following crime-prevention operations from 5pm on Friday, 5 January until Sunday, 7 January.
“Officers were conducting their routine stop-and-search operations when they made the arrests. The suspects have already appeared in court briefly on Monday, 8 January,” she explained.
