Local police revealed the shocking news on Wednesday that a third murder had been committed over the New Year’s period in Randfontein.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, “A 35-year-old made a brief court appearance on Tuesday following his arrest shortly after allegedly stabbing and killing a 31-year-old. The incident happened at about 3.30am on New Year’s Day.
“It is alleged that the victim and the suspect got into an argument at a place on Selopethema Street in Bekkersdal during which the victim was wounded. He was taken to the Bekkersdal Emergency Clinic but died on his arrival.

“The police were contacted and a murder case was registered. The suspect was traced and arrested following information by detective Sergeant Ralepene Moiloa.”
He is expected to be back in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 10 January for a bail application.
