West Rand Police arrest 315 in pre-festive season blitz

Police in the West Rand Cluster sent out a strong message to criminals by arresting more than 300 suspects during a pre-festive season operation.

Police in the West Rand Cluster on a quest to combat crime conducted different operations between 23 and 25 November. Their efforts yielded 315 arrests.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said this is a clear indication that the police are always on the alert and cannot tolerate any criminals in the Cluster.

“Most of the suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, assault with an intent to inflict serious injuries and domestic violence,” Ernst said.

Less serious crimes were also addressed, which saw the police arresting 31 undocumented persons and 11 road-rule transgressors.
