Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said there could have been more than one shooter. “The motive for the attack is still unknown and the suspect(s) are still at large.

“It is alleged that a local tavern owner heard a gunshot followed by a scream. He went to investigate and found a man with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

He took the victim to the Bekkersdal Clinic and while at the clinic, another person from the same area came in with a gunshot wound to his left hand.

“The owner went back home and as he was busy cleaning his vehicle he heard another scream three houses away. He again went to investigate and found a third person with two gunshots wounds. He again rushed the victim to the clinic. The three victim subsequently were transferred to a hospital.

“We are appealing to the community not to try and apprehend the suspects as they are armed and deemed to be dangerous,” Lefakane said.
