A 46-year-old man has been arrested recently for the rape of a 15-year-old girl, Bekkersdal Police said.
It is alleged that a teacher noticed the child was not herself and when she asked her what the matter was, the victim confided in her,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.
She immediately contacted the parent and the matter was reported to the Bekkersdal Police.

The suspect was traced and arrested on 30 October. He made his court appearance on 1 November.
Colonel Abraham Nkhwasu, Bekkersdal Police station commander applauded the member for the swift reaction and expressed his gratitude to the teacher for showing concern towards this learner.
“This case will be closely monitored and justice will be served,” added Nkhwasu.
