Keep your animals safe from fireworks during the Festive Season

The SPCA advises owners with animals that live outside to cover and secure their shelters.

With New Year’s Eve only a few days away, pet owners are advised to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their pets when fireworks are being let off.

The local SPCA advises owners to keep their animals indoors, especially cats. They believe that cats usually run blindly when they are frightened.

Make your animal comfortable in a room in your house and close the doors, windows and curtains. During this time the perfect way to keep them calm is by playing some music and giving them their favourite toy.

Being with your animals during fireworks will help to calm and relax them.

The SPCA advises owners with animals that live outside to cover and secure their shelters.

Animal lovers who know that their animals are afraid of loud noises such as fireworks can obtain calming tablets from their nearest veterinarian.

Remember to microchip your pets in case they escape during the Festive Season.
